Lowcountry CERT Is the
CERT Members non- profit organization created to expand the CERT program in the
tri - county area and raise funds for the on-going needs of locally trained
CERTs. In addition to continuing education, teams require equipment and other
resources to remain prepared to assist in disasters.
MEMBERSHIP PARTICIPATION
Those who complete the CERT training are expected to:

Help individuals
and organizations in the community prepare to take care of themselves in the
event of a disaster by providing or facilitating education about emergency
preparedness.

Be willing to help
neighbors and the community in the event of a disaster, after assuring self and
family safety.

Seek out and take advantage of opportunities to enhance emergency preparedness
and disaster skills.

Be willing to
participate in team activities, community events, drills and training others.

Participate in
periodic team meetings to organize and maintain activities

CERT Review Materials
Search and Rescue Tutorial
This tutorial allows CERT-trained individuals to
review and refresh their skills in sizeup and search and rescue techniques.
Teams can use the tutorial as a group refresher
activity.
Those who are not yet CERT members can also use
the tutorial for background on the CERT basic training.

Introduction to Community
Emergency Response Teams", IS-317
This is an independent study course that serves as
a refresher for current team members or an introduction to CERT for
those wanting to complete training.
It has six modules with topics that include an
Introduction to CERT, Fire Safety, Hazardous Material and Terrorist Incidents,
Disaster Medical Operations, and Search and Rescue.
It takes between six and eight hours to complete
the course.
Those successfully finishing it will receive a
certification of completion and .8 CEU's from the Independent Study Office.
The IS-317 can be taken by anyone interested in
CERT. However, to become a CERT volunteer, one must complete the classroom
training.

LIAISON PROGRAM
MISSION STATEMENT
The Charleston County CERT Liaison program is developed to
serve as an extension of the Charleston County Citizens Corps Council. It will
serve as an organized body dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of the
CERT program and to developing growth and utilization of Charleston County's
CERT program. Liaisons will be dedicated to the goal of providing CERT teams
with a ready resource for communication and training so they may be utilized as
a valuable resource for Charleston County. The CERT Liaison program will
incorporate proven guidelines as set forth under the FEMA CERT, Citizen Corps
program.
OVERVIEW
Charleston County will be
divided into "CERT Operational DISTRICTS", A CERT District Liaison will be
assigned to each district. The District Liaison will assist in evaluating and
developing the growth of the teams in their assigned districts. District
Liaisons will communicate and work with Team leaders to evaluate and document
team’s progress and needs. The District Liaisons will forward requests and
needs to the CERT Liaison Coordinator. The CERT Liaison Coordinator will oversee
the CERT Liaison program and report to the CERT Program Coordinator. All
Liaisons will meet on a regular basis to evaluate the progress of the CERT
