Tom Crosby
(Chairman)
Tom helped Establish Lowcountry CERT in 2007, and was elected as
Chairman in February 2008 and re-elected in February 2010.
Tom has acted as President of Q.H.H.O.A. for the past 18-years,
owner of TAC Services for the past 16 years and has been a licensed
real estate agent in South Carolina since 2003. He has received
several awards for his services both in the corporate and consumer
areas, and in 2006, Tom was named the Liaison for East Cooper CERT
to coordinate emergency response east of the Cooper River.
Danica Sancic
(Assistant Chair)
Danica was elected in February, 2011
Danica resides in Mount Pleasant and is an active member of East Copper CERT.
As a CERT instructor since 2005 she has been instrumental in training over 500 citizens in the Tri-county.
She also has served as the LCERT admin committee chair person for the last 2 years.
Danica currently works as an Emergency Manager in the Private Sector.
She has served over 21 years with the United States Air Force and continues to serve as a Reservist.
Her professional background includes, Emergency Medical Technician with EMS, a volunteer with the Mt Pleasant Fire Department, disaster planning and Haz-Mat response in the Air Force and private sector.
Danica holds a BS, in Biology from Charleston Southern University and is currently working on her MBA.
Barbara Eggers-Parker
(Secretary)
Barbara was elected secretary in February 2010.
Barbara completed the CERT and DART Programs in 2007 and is presently the chair of the LCERT Membership Committee and a member of the Continuing Education Committee.
She lives in West Ashley with her husband Ron and three spoiled cats. She volunteers at the Charleston Animal Society and is always involved in animal rescue efforts. Barbara is an emeritus professional member of the American Society of Safety Engineers and the American Chemical Society. She recently retired from Trident Technical College after serving as Director of Health, Human Services, Safety and Industrial Training and Apprenticeships. She spent 17 years in higher education after retiring from Digital Equipment Corporation in Boston. She served as Engineering Manager for semiconductor packaging and printed wiring board manufacturing. She acted as project manager implementing technologies across the globe.
She holds a BS in Chemistry and Biology (Suffolk University), an MS in Biochemistry and Organic Chemistry (U. of New Hampshire) and a Certificate in Leadership in Higher Education from the U. of S.C.
David Dawson
(Treasurer)
Dave was elected as Treasurer in February, 2009 and re-elected
February 2011.
Dave is a resident of Mount Pleasant, has been married for over 33
years, and also has two children who reside in the area. One is a
local police officer and the other is preparing to work for the
Department of Homeland Security as a Border Patrol Agent. The
police officer is also a CERT graduate and a team member of C-11.
Dave has been actively involved with CERT since 2005 when he
completed the CERT training course. He has been the team leader
for CERT teams 5 and 11 since 2006 when the then team leader, Tom
Crosby, moved up to the liaison position.
Dave is a retired Federal bank examiner with a Bachelors Degree in
Business from The Citadel, and is also a graduate of the Graduate
School of Banking at Louisiana State University. In his 35 years
as a bank examiner, he was extensively involved in auditing the
books of banks of all sizes, including multi-billion dollar
institutions. Since retiring he has also worked as a bank
consultant performing loan audits and due-diligence audits of
financial institutions.
He has also served as treasurer of two separate churches in which he
was a member, as well as treasurer for the homeowner’s association
of a previous subdivision he resided in before moving to Charleston.
Jim Tarter
(Charleston County Advisor)
Jim is a retired Paramedic. He is currently the Training Coordinator
for Charleston County Emergency Management Department. Most
Lowcountry CERT members recognize Jim as the primary person
responsible for training all Charleston County CERTs. Jim was also
instrumental in forming the non-profit Lowcountry CERT organization.
He continues to serve as Charleston County's appointed
representative Advisor on the Lowcountry CERT Board of Directors.
